Warming up in Winter is not just for Engines! Be Aware of Warming up your Tires as well! | News

Shrink the tire to warm it from the air inside.

It is well known that before riding a motorcycle, one should warm up the engine, but many people may think that this is only for the engine.
In winter, however, it is important to pay attention to warming up the tires as well.

Tires do not perform at their full potential when cold.
While tires naturally warm up through friction with the road surface when driving, it is naturally more difficult for them to warm up in winter than in other seasons.
For this reason, we recommend that you warm up your tires more consciously than usual.
If the tires do not function properly, they will not grip well when cornering, and in some cases, at the first traffic light after starting out, they may slip on the straight line as well as under braking.

So what is the best way to warm up tires? First, start riding slowly.
Then, at a straight line, braking firmly with the image of squashing the tires at low speed, and then riding slowly again. Then brake again. Do this for a while.
By repeatedly contracting the tire in this manner, the internal temperature is raised, which in turn raises the surface temperature, bringing the tire up to the temperature range where it can perform at its full potential.

From the outside, it may appear as if the driver is repeatedly accelerating and braking in the middle of nowhere.
In other words, this is exactly what you will be doing, so if possible, try to do it in a place where there are no cars following you.
